Written by John Godber and Jane Thornton
12 & 13 April, 2002
Every town has its Shakers, the oh-so trendy cocktail bar where everyone wants to be seen: from the check-out girls to the chinless wonders, from the yuppies to the local lads tittering at the thought of a 'Long Slow Comfortable Screw'. We are given a wickedly funny glimpse of this world by the four long suffering waitresses, offering a fascinating view of the reality that lurks behind the plastic palms and the Pina Coladas.
No Mean Company shake their stuff
Cumbernauld News, Wednesday 17 April, 2002
NO Mean Company make a welcome return to Cumbernauld Theatre with their latest production, Shakers Re-Stirred by John Godber and Jane Thornton and directed by Angelique Watt.
The scene is Shakers, a trendy café and cocktail bar in Glasgow. Four waitresses take us through their work, serving the toughs after the skirt, the girls’ birthday party, the businessmen going home, the power dressers, the theatre crowd, the boys’ night out, the trendies, the untrendies, the posh and the not so posh. Through it all shine their hopes and dreams, their failures and successes, their spirit and their humour. This fantastic comedy is not to be missed.
This production is sponsored by Transco and is performed on Friday and Saturday, April 12 and 13. Performances begin at 7.45 pm and tickets are £6 & £3. Call the box office on 732887.
